Frank and Mickie were amazing hosts, they did everything imaginable to make my stay perfect. They came down to welcome me when I got in and made it clear that I could call them for anything I needed. The cabin itself was very cozy and kept very well including a well stocked kitchen. The property around the cabin was also very pretty and fairly secluded. I also went hiking in the Kumbrabow state park which was a very short drive away and well worth it. Overall great cabin and perfect hosts.
Found this cabin on line while searching out a new spot for my annual trip with my friends. After a beautiful ride through Virginia and West Virginia we arrived. We all were very impressed with the cabin and the surrounding property. Frank the owner was extremely helpful ang gave us a lay of the land. I highly recommend this rental.
We had a very relaxing and quiet stay at the cabin. Frank and Micki came down after we arrived and made sure we had settled in. They provided us with helpful directions throughout our stay and were extremely friendly and welcoming. The cabin was great for a couple and two large dogs. We could wander the property or head over to the local state forest for hiking. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed, including fresh eggs from Frank and Micki's chickens. Would highly recommend and hope we can make it back. One caveat - the cell service was non-existent for us (Verizon). It made for a great stay, but renters will have to drive a bit to get coverage.
Completely as advertised and in such a great setting! We enjoyed our five day stay there and hope to return next year . The owners greeted us on arrival and were available for anything we needed. We enjoyed the fire pit and hiking down to the beaver pond. Visited Green Bank and took a great all day train ride to Bald Knob. Many thanks to Frank and Mikey for allowing us to enjoy their cabin! It has everything you need to unplug and chill out.
We had an amazing stay just after the July 4th holiday. The kitchen is well stocked with basic cookware/salt pepper/condiments/coffee. Cold bottled water in the fridge was a welcome sight after a long, hot drive. Dvd, board game and book selection is better than average!! Bathroom was also clean and spacious, well equipped. Every detail was thought of! Frank (owner) was very pleasant and brought us fresh eggs from his chickens. We had a wonderful quiet stay, only ventured out to ride the area scenic trains and for a nice dinner at The Forks Inn in Elkins. We hope to return again!
This was the perfect cabin for our anniversary getaway! The owners clearly communicated the details with us in advance and gave careful attention to making sure we were comfortable. We lacked for nothing! The wooded setting was serene, offering us a chance to take a deep breath away from the typical fast pace. We took walks through the woods, enjoyed the sounds of the nearby stream, and hiked area trails a couple miles away. The kitchen had all the tools we needed to prepare the foods we packed for our four-day retreat and we felt right at-home from the start. We made many great memories here and we’ll certainly be back!
This was the best trip my family has ever had. Everything was comfortable. The place was easy to find with GPS. Every comfort of home was available. It is a distance from town, so you need to bring food and drinks with you. There was no Verizon coverage and no WiFi in the cabin, so there were no emails, or texts, or phone calls to disturb our time away from home. There is a phone line in case of an emergency. The owners were great. They came to great us when we got there and gave us their number in case we needed anything. It snowed while we were there (which is what we were hoping for) and had difficulty getting out, but Frank was able to get out and on our way. This is absolutely the best place to get away.
Loved this beautiful cabin! Easy to find, recommend 4 wheel drive for snow. Frank snow plowed for us each morning. Pictures don’t do it justice. Could not ask for more helpful cabin owners.
Our group of six could not have picked a better cabin or hosts. The space was perfect and probably even nicer than what we needed. We were really able to make the place and the surrounding area our own for the weekend, all of which was beautiful and serene.
Thank you Frank and Mick for your hospitality.
The cabin is beautiful; the hospitality is exceptional. The fresh free range eggs are delicious. The daily intellectual conversations are delightful. Mingo's affection is heart warming. The wood burning fireplace provides adequate heat even during snowfall. The beds are very comfortable. Thank you for ensuring we are as comfortable as possible.
I wanted you both to know how much I enjoyed my stay at your lovely cabin. The peaceful serenity provided by the atmosphere, the quiet and cheerful woods, and your appreciated attentions to make sure my stay was great, was exactly what I needed. The cabin itself provides more than everything one needs, but it is also very aesthetically pleasing. You've obviously spent a great deal of time creating the perfect spot to relax. Really liked long distance phoning, washer/dryer in cabin, extra firewood, farm fresh eggs, daily visit to see if we were ok, sitting on the porch and reading, real fireplace, board games available, lovely beds and furniture....
.Mick and Frank are the best cabin keepers. Having never been to WV they went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The cabin is very well taken care of and is very nice. From the poplar wood interior to the dishes, towels, and supplies needed for a relaxing stay. Being away from the web reminded me of when I was little. Having my kids with me, Zac 18 years old and Shane 11 there are plenty of trails to ride the 4 wheeler. Also very cool back roads and small towns to discover, all with spectacular views of this incredible State. It is very difficult to leave. We felt welcome from basic amenities to letting me use his personal garage to do some repairs needed to my trailer. I am very lucky I found them and will never forget what they did for me and my kids, and how we were treated. No doubt I will return and wouldn't hesitate to bring my wife to this beautiful cabin on the side of a mountain. Mick and Frank thank you very much, luv you guys.
From the moment that we turned into the lane @ Beaver Pond we knew we'd found "our kind" of get away:) We love adventure, back roads & the wild beauty of the mountains. The cabin was the "Cherry" on top! Frank was a wonderful host as he showed us around the place (we hope to meet Mick on our next visit) Even though it was raining and a little chilly the night of our stay, the indoor wood burning fireplace, the rain on the tin roof & the plush bed were wonderful. We were traveling back to Ohio from the OBX & after a long day of being in the car we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for the night. The next morning we grabbed a couple walking sticks that Frank had made & took a short hike to the "Beaver Pond" more like a lake! There is nothing like the fresh mountain air on a crisp spring morning to awaken your senses. Our only regrets are that we only had one night we could stay & that I had dropped my camera @ the OBX cottage so I couldn't snap any pictures of this awesome cabin. We can't wait for our next trip to W.V. for a longer stay @ Frank & Mick's lil' piece of heaven on earth:)
You couldn't find a better spot for a getaway - the cabin is gorgeous, the views are amazing, and the mick and Franc are amazing! We will definitely be booking again!
We really enjoyed our stay. This was a short getaway for us that allowed us to ski (about 30 minutes away) and have a safe and comfortable place to leave our dogs. (They had lots of exercise on the property, so they seemed content to sleep while we were out). Super nice owners. Would recommend the csbin to anyone who values peace and quiet, especially dog people.
The cabin is even better in person than in the pictures. Absolutely clean and thoughtfully decorated. It is fully equip with everything you can possibly need... just bring your food. A true getaway!!! Mick and Frank (the owners) are extremely accommodating, helpful, kind and caring. They even brought us fresh eggs and dry wood every day. You cannot ask for better hosts!!! They certainly host with pride and excellence. Since the moment you arrive, until the moment you leave, Mick and Frank will make sure all your needs are met. I highly recommend this gorgeous place! Thank you Mick and Frank!
The cabin was perfect, secluded, and cozy! Lots of land to explore and you can hear the creek from the porch! The hosts greeted us with fresh eggs in hand and communicated with us the week before we arrived due to snow storms. They had the road plowed for us and made sure if we needed anything to just call and ask! Snowshoe is only 20 miles away and I am so glad we stayed off the mountain! We came back to a peaceful and relaxing spot in the woods! I can’t wait to book this cabin again!
We had a great weekend. There are trails to hike and beautiful scenery, the cabin was perfect and the owners have really put a lot of thought and effort into making your stay as relaxing as possible. We can’t wait to go back!
Our second stay here and it was wonderful again!!! Thank you very much for another excellent getaway!! This house has everything you need and has the seclusion to escape from the real world! It is very comfortable and well appointed. We will definitely be back. Thanks again!
We were looking for a peaceful trip and we found just that. The owners were great in helping us find some hiking trails at the park that's just around the corner, but also gave us privacy to relax. The property has a trail of it's own which we intend on exploring next time around. Worth every penny and every mile.
My husband and I found this location after much searching and I am so glad we did. Upon arrival we contacted the owners, Frank and Micki, to let them know we had arrived. They stopped by shortly after to introduce themselves and brought us a dozen fresh eggs. They went over all details of the property and cabin and gave us directions to a few different attractions we were planning to attend since our cell service provider did not work in this area. Frank and Micki have thought of everything you could possibly need or want. Two days after our arrival they called to check in on us to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. The cabin is beautifully decorated and a great selection of music, games, and movies are provided. This was the most quiet and relaxing vacation we have had in a long time and it is owed to Frank and Micki for their hospitality and sharing their beautifal cabin in the woods. Next time we visit this area, we know where we will be staying. Thanks again Frank and Micki!
We visited with 2 grandchildren - ages 11 & 13 - and were so pleased with selecting this rental. It is located in a beautiful spot & easy to locate with the owner's directions. Wish we could have stayed longer than the 2 days we had there. I imagine the fall would be even more lovely when the leaves are turning. If you have the 4 wheel vehicle this can be a great location in the snow & skiing Snowshoe which is nearby. Owners are so helpful and available nearby to offer info & just friendly conversation. Plus they have chickens & provide you with delicious brown eggs! The cabin is so comfortable & so well equipped with anything you could need. Bring a few groceries & yourself & you are set for a relaxing stay.
Very friendly and helpful hosts. Well equipped full kitchen, cabin had all the comforts of home. You can tell a lot of love and care has been put into maintaining the cabin. We loved hiking the trails on the property with our pup, he slept like a log after all of the exploring! Nearby Kumbrabow also has some great trails. Would recommend and love to come back to visit. Thank you Michaeline and Frank!
The cabin is a tobacco free environment.
